How a Tiny Brewery Found a Little Financing to Grow
a Big Idea Into a Small Business

Owners, Enrique J. Garcia and Juan Pablo Vergara of Bousa Brewing Co. had a vision for their start up local brewery. They wanted to be the first local brewery in Little Haiti, but they needed the financing to fulfill their dreams of merging two things they love- beer and business. After being turned away from traditional lenders due to their start-up phase, they sought alternative non-profit funding from Neighborhood Lending Partners who believed in their concept and helped their small business plan come to fruition with a $161,500 small business loan.

Continuing the trend of repurposing industrial buildings in Miami, Bousa Brewery will operate in a recently renovated and rehabbed multi-tenant warehouse, with an initial capacity to make 4,000 barrels of beer annually. In partnership with Eagle Brands, Bousa is already selling draft beer in more than fifty bars and restaurants in Miami-Dade and expects to open the tap-room by May 2017.

"Little River is becoming an Innovation district, and we are excited to be on the border of two other dynamic neighborhoods, Little Haiti, already known as a Culinary District, and the MIMO District, also known as Fashion District," said Enrique Garcia, co-owner of Bousa Brewing Company. "We are bullish on the growth of this community and look forward to collaborating with local businesses to grow the craft beer footprint in Miami."

Bousa

The brand's flagship beer has a medium body IPA and features a delicate balance of malty and hoppy-citrusy notes; it is a friendly, introductory beer that has attracted consumers to try Bousa for the first time. Bousa has also started to sell their second beer, called Bousa Blonde; a refreshing and crisp American wheat, light in body with high carbonation, dry and crisp.
